The client challenge

Instaveg faced several challenges such as post-harvest losses due to inefficient cold chain facilities, failure to meet certification standards to access high-value markets as well as experiencing high running & maintenance costs for facilities that are over 30 years old.  With the previous leasing of their then facility from the government, they could not meet the quality standards they hoped for in maintaining their shelf life after export. Access to reliable and efficient cold chain was the main challenge.

The InspiraFarms solution

In order optimize the efficiency and increase the capacity of their supply chain, Instaveg acquired InspiraFarms 240Sqm modular cold storage, pre-cooling and processing facility with 125Sqm auxiliary structures that helped own and manage the facility to maintain standards and running costs, access higher value markets with food safety and social standards, increase their revenue and reduce post harvest losses due to efficient processing and cold chain facilities.

The success story

Instaveg have since seen been able to  hold on shelf with over 50% reduction in customer complaints and the same reduction in claims since they attained a complying packing facility. They are also using less power bills by 30% despite cooling a bigger area.

They have also witnessed improved overall product quality, reduced the post-harvest losses and have received good feedback from customers appreciating the fact that they pack from a complying facility which is food safety certified.

Instaveg plans to expand both the local and international export markets using effective cold chain, traceability and food safety certification as a cutting edge.  In future, they may also expand their facility into high care and avocado lines.
