Project Description
Instaveg benefits from modular cold storage, pre-cooling and processing facility
Instaveg Limited is a fresh produce exporting company in Kenya located in Kirinyaga County that started in 2007 made up of aggregators, processors, and marketers of fresh fruit and vegetables for local and international markets.
Their main produce for export is French beans, garden peas, and tender-stem broccoli which they export to the United Kingdom, Dubai, and France. Their activities mainly include inputs procurement and distribution, extension services, produce and product logistics, sorting, packing, and marketing of fresh produce.
The client challenge
Instaveg faced several challenges such as post-harvest losses due to inefficient cold chain facilities, failure to meet certification standards to access high-value markets as well as experiencing high running & maintenance costs for facilities that are over 30 years old. With the previous leasing of their then facility from the government, they could not meet the quality standards they hoped for in maintaining their shelf life after export. Access to reliable and efficient cold chain was the main challenge.
The InspiraFarms solution
In order optimize the efficiency and increase the capacity of their supply chain, Instaveg acquired InspiraFarms 240Sqm modular cold storage, pre-cooling and processing facility with 125Sqm auxiliary structures that helped own and manage the facility to maintain standards and running costs, access higher value markets with food safety and social standards, increase their revenue and reduce post harvest losses due to efficient processing and cold chain facilities.
